Bolton plays offensive tackle but lacks the size for the position at the major level of competition. A move to guard is recommended as he enters college. Lacks a little height, a growth spurt would help along with additional bulk as he continues to develop. Has good flexibility and runs well; flashes explosion coming out of his stance but will raise his pad level and narrow his base on contact. Can be explosive with good playing strength as a down or straight inline blocker but is inconsistent sustaining and finishing blocks. Demonstrates the ability to block movement and shows good ability blocking linebackers at the 2nd level; plays on his feet well in space. Have yet to see him pull and trap. Will need to improve his quick set and knee bend; plays a little too tall but has nimble feet and flashes the ability to play flat footed. Should be able to handle quickness in the guard box and pop out vs. outside rushers. Flashes upper body hand explosion but we would like to see consistent placement and extension. Bolton can be explosive with good playing strength but is inconsistent using these tools; it is important that he develop a higher level of intensity and fully utilize his potential. This is not an early starter or impact player, rather one who will benefit from time and a red shirt year before he begins to see playing time.
