Millard is a thick inside linebacker prospect with good mobility and downhill burst between the tackles. We like his athleticism as a future tight end or H-back as well. Has a large upper-body and overall frame. Carries his weight well and has above average lateral agility for a defender with his thickness. While not elite in one particular area he is very well-rounded, deceptively athletic for his size and feel he may currently be floating under the radar. Lacks great initial quicks and reactions skills but is sound in his reads and rarely takes himself out of position. Mirrors backs with proper leverage and adequate redirection skill. At his best filling his middle run gaps on Iso or two-back power schemes. Shows good downhill burst and short-area power at the point of attack. Rarely gets turned and does a very good job utilizing his hands scraping off blocks and staying clean. Makes very solid contact as a tackler but does need to wrap up a bit lower. Does not lose a lot in transition opening to turn and run or retreating in coverage. Lacks great speed but is football fast chasing off-tackle and to the sideline. Long upper-body helps him cover more ground. Overall range for a middle linebacker is above average and assisted by his good motor and direct angles. Does a good job getting depth in coverage, leveling off and blanketing his underneath zone. However, we question if he has the lateral burst to make plays on the ball inside-out at the next level. Plays high hindering his change-of-direction skill and opening his large torso up for the cutoff block in the second level. We did not see him slip or sidestep many blockers through the wash. Overall, Millard brings a lot to the table physically for a program to mold and develop. Has the tools to play a strong side backer position as well. Not going to wow you on film at linebacker but grows on you the more you watch and just does a lot of the little things right at the position. We would not be surprised if a program looking for an athletic H-back with good hands, strength after the catch and solid blocking skills recruits him on offense. Just a good overall football whose stock should begin to soar this spring.
