After their disappointing performance Saturday, the defending champs are now out of both polls. The Jayhawks will have their opportunities in the coming weeks to jump back into the polls if they can pull some upsets of their own. Wins against Temple, Arizona, and Siena could certainly put the Hawks back into the polls.
The Minutemen came in with a game plan to slow down the Kansas offense on Saturday afternoon, and for most of the game, that plan worked. FORCE THEM TO SHOOT. By sagging down and clogging the lane, the Minutemen forced the Jayhawks to knock down shots from the perimeter. If I said before Saturday’s game inside the Sprint Center between Kansas and Umass, that one team would shoot 46% and the other team would shoot 34%, most would think the Jayhawks would head back to Lawrence with a win.
