The good news from Saturday’s game against Michigan State was that the Jayhawks outscored the Spartans by six in the second half, Sherron Collins scored 25 points and Cole Aldrich recorded his ninth double double of the season. The Jayhawks look desperate to score from the field agaisnt the Spartans. After starting the game on a 7-0 run, the Spartans then went on a 19-1 run and never looked back. Kansas struggled to score at all during the first half, including going 1-5 from the free throw line. The Jayhawks are even worse from behind the arc, shooting 1-6 during the first half.
A lack of any post scoring has kept the Spartans from shooting a hight percentage from the field (41%), but the Spartans have been on fire from the perimeter. Led by guard Kalin Lucas’s 13 points, the Spartans have shot 50% from 3 and converted 7 of 12 free throws.
It take a much better effort in the second half if the Jayhawks are going to prevent this one from getting out of hand.
