Perkins is a stout and physical running back. He has great size for a running back and is powerful with the football under his arm. A true I tailback that can run the entire array of plays with equal effectiveness. Displays good vision on the isolation and sprint draw play; follows his blockers and stays on their hips till the daylight shows then jets through the openings. Very impressive on the toss sweep and can bounce the ball to the perimeter in a hurry and shows the ability to tip-toe the sideline. Keeps balance even after being hit and doesn’t mind running over defenders that are in his way. Big and powerful thighs make him tough to bring down in one on one situations; even uses the stiff arm technique to keep tacklers off his body. Not exceptionally fast but has good quickness and can make sharp lateral cuts once he breaks the line of scrimmage. A reliable short yardage and red zone running back that will pick up needed yardage on demand. Catches the ball out of the backfield and can weave his way through traffic for positive yards. Perkins is a very solid and steady running back that is equally effective on inside or outside runs. He is a talented big back.
