Deering is a very talented all around athlete. He has impressive size and is a real load to bring down when he has the ball under his arm. As a running back he fights his way through traffic and displays excellent vision both in the backfield and when making cuts downfield. A real athlete that makes positive yards when he appears to be pinned in the backfield. A tall and impressive hard runner that is especially impressive when running the perimeter; keeps balance and is able to kick it into a second gear on the sweep. Possesses very good playing speed and can pull away from defenders when in space. As a spread quarterback, throws the football very well when sprinting out and can throw back across his body with accuracy and good arm strength. Shows accuracy on underneath route; puts the ball into tight places for the completion. Demonstrates toughness and can lower his shoulders and split defenders to pick up extra yards. Deering is an outstanding athlete that can fit into any program due to his versatility and overall athletic ability.
