Headline on yahoo talking about people being angry over race implications. Im Not saying the implications are funny, but watching these heinous shoes backfire certainly is

Saw a segment on the local news about this today that showed some of the designers other shoes... I can honestly say after seeing some of the designs Adidas allowed him to put out this was the first time I actually wanted a different brand for KU.

Horrible idea, and terrible looking shoe. It may be funny to some, but not a laughing situation for me at all!

There is no end to how far people are willing to reach in order to play the race card. However, these shoes are an absolute joke regardless. At least they are unique, I guess.

I personally don't think the race card is a reach in this case.

Are we assuming American slaves are the only people in history to have worn shackles?

This doesn't make any sense. No, American slaves weren't the only ones to wear shackles. But they did wear them here and most people here associate shackles on the ankles with slavery. Add to that the fact that basketball is dominated by young black males and all the racial implications are pretty straightforward. If you think people are playing the race card here when they criticize this shoe, I'd guess you're a pretty intolerant person.

I'm hispanic, and my younger brother and sister are both half black. But yeah, I'm pretty intolerant.
I agree, the design of the shoe is absolutely awful. But let's just get real here.....American slaves wore the shackles 150+ years ago, but PRISONERS of ALL races and ethinicities are wearing them TODAY in this country. Again, the race thing is completely overblown. I mean, if we really wanted to, we could call somebody a racist because they sold a black man a t shirt that was made out of cotton. People just need to stop being so damn sensitive!
