Default The next head coach is

me.

So FWIW but it appears to be pretty spot on - Two independent sources have told TheShiver.com that an announcement could come as early as today with a press conference coming on Friday afternoon (1 central is specific time given) that current Florida Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis will be the next Head Coach at Kansas.

Weis is said to have interviewed with Kansas Athletics Director Dr. Sheahon Zenger on Wednesday afternoon/evening.

I'll add that this has been full of smoke screens thus far but I felt I had to put something out since I've had multiple sources, independent of each other, tell me the same thing.

If anything else gets thrown my way I will be sure to let you know. Oh - and now 3 sources have told me the exact same thing.

I will now return to my domination of FIFA 2012 - ROOOOOOONEY!!!!

It would definitely make a splash. Hopefully he learned something at ND, where he wasn't all that successful with some of the best recruits in the country.

You bet. Hopefully it's right but I know 100% that another media member that covers KU got told the exact same thing. I know this because we talked about it cause we do that.

I don't see him being here long term, but if he could put in 5 years, attend a few bowl games, and up our overall talent level then I would be happy.

I would just like to see a KU coach leave for a 'better' job then leave due to firing and I think Weis would be that guy.

Should be a name that will sell tickets and bring some excitement to the program. I hope he can bring some good coordinators with him.

Weis doesn't like to recruit, already failed at notre dame I say give malzahn his shot. I think weis is better suited to be an NFL OC than a college HC

Horrible hire if true. Hope he brings in some dynamic young coordinators that can recruit or this has failure written all over it.

Weis will have to rely on Mitchell and the Coordinators to bring in the talent.

plus this tweet makes the Weis news seem more credible...
bobfescoe Bob Fescoe
Looks like KU has their man...stay tuned #kufball

Yeaaaaa, nothing says credibility like Bob Fescoe. I'll believe it when I see it. We've been down this road before.........It's Harbaugh!!!!!

Malzahn hasn't proved a thing... He's a high school coach that everyone down here questioned from day one. He looks good, cause he had cam. If turner gill had cam, he'd still be coaching at Kansas. he could do ok, but we should've kept gill if we were just going to grab some coordinator that looks good because of 1 player and mostly high school experience

I believe that Zenger is working on a deal with Weis. That is what I take by KU has their man. Which to me means that Weis is willing to take the job but the contract stuff has to be worked out.

#kufball looks to have landed their new head coach. Definitely a name KC fans will recognize the name. story later @KUTheShiver

Weiss won't have to recruit as much. He has Mitchell and will bring in a terrific staff tha will do the leg work. Let's not compare what he did at ND to what he can do here. Two totally different programs with totally different expectations. Weiss is a offensive genius and will win if he comes here .

From what I've been told - communication with Weis started over a week ago and both parties met again yesterday. In New York for Heisman dinner and all that jazz to possibly work on OC and DC positions.

This is all true, ND is a different beast. I'm sure many recruits would want to play for someone with superbowl rings to show off.

It's a lot easier to get a kid into KU than ND. The academic standards are a lot higher at ND than they are KU.

While at Notre Dame Wies has the #23, #11, #5 and #2 ranked class according to scout. One of his years they were outside the top 25 though.

I know that doesn't translate equally to Kansas but my guess is kids will have interest in playing for him

This would be a big hire that donor's can get behind- means $$ to the University and butts in the seats. If true I would show up just to see what is going to be trotted on the field.

With recruiting classes like that and Weiss being an offensive genius would mean that ND played in many BCS bowls.............oh wait they never made a BCS bowl! This would be a big time Mistake long term!

He may not take us to BCS bowls again (but he is probably capable of doing so, especially if he can bring some good coordinators) but he will leave the program in better shape and more talented then it is now. Which means we will be able to higher another coach that has credibility and not have to be the bottom team on the list of hires.
