3) I was blown away to learn my doctor Mark Allen is actually the grandson of the Legendary Phog! I had no idea about the connection and his last name is so common. I just knew he was a KU fan like me. I will have to bring it up next time I see him!
4) I loved watching Larry Brown and Roy Williams representing KU. If you still hate 'ol Roy, you need to get over it. He did what any other man would do, go back to home.
5) Call me crazy, but I do think this episode would help little in recruiting.

7) Oh, my doctor is way cooler than yours. I'll have to use him for a job referral...

Awesome show! What a remarkable story about undaunted will and unrestrained generosity. Much appreciation to all three of the main players.
It got me out of my depression since I watched some of the show before this aired on high school spinal cord suffered from playing football. Romney needs to watch that show when he asserts nobody dies from a lack of health coverage. Absolutely sad.

the thought of the rules sitting at duke, if it wasn't for josh swade leading the train, makes me ill. we were one passionate stranger away from that happening. so thank you to swade's perseverence and to david booth's and mark allen's dedication to kansas tradition for making this happen.

This bidding war could have really escalated further given their net worths. In the end, it just came down to desire as Rubenstein (the other bidder) said on the documentary. It was clear that Booth wanted them and was willing to keep bidding, while Rubenstein looked like he was just trying to pick up something nice for his school if he could outlast the 'weak hand' bidders.

I hope they don't though. There was a value on that document and both Booth and the Duke d-bag went WAY over it. You could see the fan in Booth kicking his business sense in the nuts that entire bidding process. If seeing that didn't make you proud to be a Jayhawk, then I don't know what would. Wow...what a cool show.
And did anybody else find Josh annoying as hell at the beginning but completely likable by the end? That is one persistent, well-intentioned KU fan! Damn, I don't know how the last two days could get better!

I'm very good friends with the Allen family - awesome people. Mrs. Allen's 'Oh No!' comment when told about Duke possibly getting the rules was classic.
Also I was at the premier on Saturday, and while speaking David Boothe dropped an awesome line. When asked about how high he would have gone he said something along the lines of 'we would have gone higher, I don't think I've ever lost an auction.' Pretty sweet guy.
Proud to be a jayhawk fan after that one.

Yeah I went to duke and they have a basketball program. I went to a game once. I think we won, but I don't recall. I had to leave early because my nose was running. But I thought I would spend millions of dollars and get the rules to put in their little museum they have down there at the basketball stadium.
I hate that man. I would like to kick him in the nads and take his wallet

Duke having those rules would be disgusting, a true violation of nature. Even thinking that those rules had any place there is an abomination. Thank god for Josh Swade, Mark Allen, and David Boothe

Think about when bill is giving recruits their tour of the facilities and he gets to say, "and here's the original rules of basketball, written by Dr James Naismith..." That is something that has to make an impact on recruits and their parents.

There is no other place in the world those rules belong than Allen Fieldhouse. As a life long KU fan, I feel extremely grateful for everything that Josh, Mr. Allen and Mr. Booth did for the university and its fans. Allen Fieldhouse imo, has always been the mecca of college bb. Having the original rules of the game only solidifies that. James Naismith would have wanted it this way.

I could see a strong case for them winding up at the Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield since it's directly related to James Naismith and is closer to where they originated. But the only other place I'd consider worthy is in Allen Fieldhouse, where Naismith spent a large part of his life and is closer to where he is today.
It's nice to see Josh's determination, Allen's willingness to help the cause, and Booth's generosity assured that origin of the sport landed in one of the few places where it belonged.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't that who sold them, or at least the proceeds went to the Naismith Hall of Fame?

Proceeds went to the Naismith Foundation and were sold by Ian Naismith, neither of whom have direct relations to the HOF that I know of.

I was trying to find comments on the UNC site reacting to Roy's segment. Didn't find anything but did on Dukes. I actually found their perspective to be fair and respectful; frankly surprising. So much so, that I take back every horrible thing I've said about them for at least the rest of the day.

That's about as logical of a discussion I have seen on a basketball forum. Glad they enjoyed it despite being portrayed as the 'villain.' I haven't found as many KU fans with disdain for Duke as they mentioned, but I'm sure they're out there.
I think they hit the nail on the head re: KU not getting enough credit in the blueblood discussion despite being the 2nd winningest program all-time and Self having the best record over 10 years or whatever that stat was. That's probably the true cause of any hate toward Duke, that their school is always quickly listed in a discussion when they've only become a powerhouse in more modern history.

The link isnt working for me for some odd reason but I've never experienced KU not getting credit in the blueblood discussion.

Pretty awesome documentary. I have to agree with others that the scene in Cameron Arena was...Priceless, especially when he decribes it as " nauseating "! It was also epic that Booth had to outbid a Dookie to close out the auction.
