Again, I might remind some of you that we all thought Naadir was going to be more than what he turned out to be.

Kevin Young played major minutes this year, and had a positive impact on many occassions. Nobody is calling the guy a superstar. He isn't one. What he IS is a senior with alot of experience under his belt. Historically, HCBS has always played these guys.

What he ISN'T is Jordan Juenemann.

Kevin Young is playing next year. Accept it. Embrace it. Prepare for it. Lucas, Peters and Withey are all plodders. If we had to pull Withey in favor of Young because opposing teams went small on us, what are we gonna do next year? Replace Withey with Peters and Lucas?!

Come on. You guys are smarter than that.
So you're telling me BMac and Traylor suck because you haven't seen them play at this level?

I never thought Tharpe was going to be good.

Kevin Young only played major minutes because we needed him to. Now that we have depth he won't play major minutes.

You're right JJ was better than Young.

Young wont be playing next year so accept it. Lucas and Peters are both far better than Young and it will show.

Come on. You can't be this dumb.

That is just incredibly wrong. Young is going to play, probably a lot. I'm just not sure how you put Jamari Traylor, sight unseen, ahead of the second guy off the bench in the NC game?

because Young is a liability on both offense and defense. All he can really do is rebound, which all of our incomming bgs are good at. plus they will all b able to defend down low better than young can. He just isnt big enough. Their is a reason he went to Loyola.

I think the point I'm trying to make and that the other guy is trying to make is. That we have no evidence that any of the freshman can actually rebound or play defense at this level. You see highlights or high school games which don't equate to college level. Nadir dominated the first couple of games against low level competition.

History shows that freshmen are not ready to play, Self will play who he trusts. And none of us have any idea what we are talking about.

Three things. 1 - I'm glad we finally have scorers that can shoot from the outside in BMac, White and Adams. 2 - I'm glad we have a log jam at PF/C and because of this I think Lucas takes a RS and Peters backs up Withey. 3 - we need a legit replacement for Manning to coach up all of these young bigs.

This is crazy, don't you guys remember Naadir last year, I'm pretty sure he was ranked higher than Anrio, Landen, Zach, or Jamari. What makes you think they won't all pull a Naadir their first season? While Naadir's skill set can only go up this summer. Also why would Self play someone like Traylor or Kevin Young who was playing minutes in the National Championship Game

I never thought Tharpe was going to be good. Well.....maybe I did. OK, I'm not gonna lie, I thought he was going to be alot better than he turned out to be.

Kevin Young only played major minutes because we needed him to. Now that we have depth he will continue to play major minutes because we need to take advantage of his experience.

You're right Jordan Juenemann was better than Young. I know this isn't what you said, but please forgive me. I'm an idiot.

Young will be playing next year so accept it. Lucas and Peters may turn out to be good, but if a team goes small and we need a big who can guard the perimeter, neither Lucas nor Peters is even close to being the answer.

Come on. I can't believe I make such dumb statements. Thank you, Swag, for showing me how foolish I sound. I really need to lay off the dope.

Anyone who doesn't think Young will play next year has not been paying attention to how Self coaches. While some of these incoming guys may have better upside than Young, Self will go with the guy he trusts, the one who knows the system and won't make mistakes, especially early in the year.

And if we go against a zone, I can almost guarantee Young will be the first big off the bench, thanks to his good passing ability and his cerebral play. He's never going to be an NBA player, but he's earned his minutes for next year and I'm 100% sure that he will get them.

This is my opening day rotation.

5: Withey , Lucas , Young
4: Ellis, Young, Traylor
3: Releford, White
2: Mclemore, White, Rio, Johnson
1: Johnson, Tharpe, Rio

I could see Tharpe and Young losing minutes as the season go by but their experience and system knowledge will get them minutes early. I also think that if Tharpe or Rio show they can handle the PG responsibilities that Johnson may see some minutes off the ball at the 2 spot but they have to show that they are capable of taking care of the ball and playing D. With us having Withey, Ellis, Lucas, Traylor, and Young I think Peters will redshirt. I just don't see Lucas and Peters taking minutes from Young and Lucas fits better as a back up to Withey. Obviously a lot of things could change in this and probably will change by conference play but I think the experience will be on the court for the opening games.

I had a thread on this subject earlier. Short bench is better than a long one. McElmore and Perry need enough slack to develop.

Eye test. Naadir can't play defense right now, hopefully he can improve physically. He has an entire summer so who knows. Peters definitely won't play next year. At all. Except for the exhibitions.

I wouldn't count peters out of the rotation yet. He has a college ready body and mind. Self wanted him to graduate early to play with us this past year. Don't wright him off just yet
