Default 10 Reasons Why Conservatives' Fiscal Ideas Are Dangerous

10 Reasons Why Conservatives' Fiscal Ideas Are Dangerous

Yes, it's true. The conservatives -- that's right, the very same folks who just dragged us along on an eight-year drunken binge during which they borrowed-and-spent us into the deepest financial catastrophe in nearly a century -- are now standing there, faces full of moral rectitude, fingers pointing and shaking in our faces, righteously lecturing the rest of us on the topic of "fiscal responsibility."

I didn't think it was possible. I mean, they were mean enough drunk -- but hung over, in the clear light of morning, it turns out they're even worse.

That's funny. Here is an analogy for you. Say your house is burning down due to some cause. Let's say in the cause too much spending. So to put that fire out you spend more than ever? I understand W was not really a fiscal conservative and that more than anything hurt the Repubs that last election cycle. There was a significant portion of the party who were against that deficit spending. Let's not forget that.

I must say that those people's voices were very quiet during the first four years of the Bush presidency. With that in mind, I have some respect for the libertarian philosphy of freedom. I think that conservatives have been hoodwinked by the moral conservative philosphy and its need to control personal behavior. If conservatives want to limited government, they need to campaign on a platform of it and follow through with it in practice. People claiming that any form of government intervention is socialism, need to be able to answer the critique that libertarian conservatism is social darwinism put into practice.

I really do think that fiscal conservatives(I qualify as one) were fooled by W. In W's first campaign he ran on sound fiscal policy and a desire to reach across the isle. In effect neither happened. Both neither wholely his fault, but I will let history judge that. This last election was was a result of that in my opinion.

I think that conservatives need to stick to their guns and fun as fisal conservatives. If they do so, they could probably peel alot of democrats away from the democratic base. I think that Social Conservative principles have truly derailed the Republican party and what it stands for. Historically speaking, morality based parties tend to stagnate and retard the growth of countries.

Just curious what some examples of morality based parties retarding countries would be?

I might suggest Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan, Japan, Sudan, and Chile.
