It is going to be easy for a program to move Macon from quarterback to either running back, safety or wide receiver because he is very athletic, but the more you watch him the more you appreciate how productive and competitive he is at QB. He is on the shorter side and absolutely would need to be in the spread to have a chance to remain at QB in college, but he is a terrific athlete, possesses a live arm and quick release and he takes a lot of pride in being fundamentally sound. He shows great feet and gets set in a hurry. He knows where he wants to go with the ball and plays with a lot of confidence. He is an excellent ball handler, disguises the ball, and is very effective when on the move outside of the pocket on bootlegs and nakeds. He is not a player that is erratic with his feet or sprays the ball around. He actually is very accurate, throws a sharp ball to the underneath and intermediate zones and is sound from the feet up which is why his overall accuracy is good. His size does limit his vision somewhat, but the shotgun can help in this area. He is not going to be a pure pocket passer in any scheme, but he will surprise you with his ability to stand in the pocket, plant and throw with confidence. His arm strength is adequate, but it’s his release that makes him a factor at QB. His feet, speed and ability to change directions make him dangerous on the move and he is a good enough athlete to play another position. Macon needs to be a shotgun spread player to stay at QB and if someone takes a chance they might find a bit of a gem. Size will limit him at the next level depending on which level he is at. Fun prospect that you respect because he plays with a chip on his shoulder and is productive.
