Sexton is truly an all around athlete. He isn’t the biggest or strongest player on the field but he has a lot of skills and is a real competitor. As a spread quarterback is very efficient at reading the option; both the dart series handoff/keep read and the speed option pitch/keep read. Not a throwing quarterback but a very good runner with the football in his hands. Finds small cracks along the line of scrimmage and can squirm through the hole and pick up valuable yardage. Possesses good speed for the competition and can make lateral cuts in the openfield to avoid would-be tacklers. Shows a burst when running the football and as a punt return specialist; reads blocks properly and is talented enough to break it the distance. Demonstrates the ability to catch the football in traffic and has soft and reliable hands. A tough guy that will come up from the free safety position and put a hit on the ball carrier. Not a picture perfect tackler but a guy that will make the play in the openfield to bring down the ball carrier or receiver. Plays the deep ball correctly from the free safety position and is athletic enough to haul down the interception. Sexton is a competitive and intense football player that has a great combination of quickness, toughness and football intelligence. He simply needs to work on strength and getting a little bigger.
