Get to Know the Recruits: Schyler Miles

Posted by Josh Scotten On February - 3 - 2012

Schyler Miles is a rare sight in the world of Kansas Football. Not only is he one of the few Florida athletes that sign up to play football in Kansas but Miles may end up a leader of the Jayhawks defense as a freshman—an even rarer occurrence.

Nearly every defensive coach I have talked to about Miles instantly glowed at the mention of his name. Whether it was Coach Charlie Weis speaking of Miles on a personal level or defensive coordinator Dave Campo boasting about the young linebacker’s rare mix of instincts and intelligence the end result was the same: this kid could be special.

Slated to arrive on campus in June, Miles will likely push for the starting inside linebacker job. At 6’2” and 220lbs, Miles is self admittedly not the biggest or strongest linebacker prospect but he may end up being a difference maker for Kansas in 2012 and certainly beyond.

Posted by Josh Scotten On February - 3 - 2012

Greg Allen is a name Kansas Jayhawk fans will get to know as the freshman defensive back is sure to hit the ground running when he arrives to campus in June. Allen’s 5’11”, 190lb frame makes him a prototypical defensive back that should prosper under defensive coordinator Dave Campo and assistant defensive backs coach Clint Bowen.

During his senior year at Alief Taylor High School, Allen amassed 58 tackles, 13 pass breakups and one interception. He joins Nasir Moore and Ty’ree Williams as Kansas’ 3 defensive back recruits in the 2012 class.

Get to Know the Recruits: Keon Stowers

Posted by Josh Scotten On February - 3 - 2012

Keon Stowers is 1 of 4 defensive lineman Charlie Weis and his staff brought aboard this Kansas team that was severely lacking in depth at the position. Stowers will likely make an instant impact and will see playing time early.

Stowers’ is a very physical and strong player with a quick initial step. He boasts a combination of speed with ideal size (6’3”, 280lb) mixed with discipline and experience gained from playing two years at Georgia Military College, making Stowers one of the more exciting prospects to come out of KU’s 2012 recruiting class.

Posted by Josh Scotten On February - 1 - 2012

It’s a big day in Jayhawk country as new Kansas University head coach Charlie Weis unveils his first class of recruits. Weis already solidified possibly the best recruiting class in Kansas history three weeks back when he introduced quarterbacks Dayne Crist and Jake Heaps. But as we are starting to expect, Weis didn’t rest on his laurels and continued to piece together some of the country’s best young talent. TheShiver.com will be talking to members of the 2012 Jayhawk recruiting class all day long and will talk to the man himself Charlie Weis later in the afternoon.
