Royce Woolridge Puts on a Show
Kansas fans from all over the Kansas City and Lawrence area flocked to the Jayhawk Invitational to get their first look at 2010 Kansas commit Royce Woolridge, and he didn’t disappoint either.
Woolridge and his Arizona Magic teammates started the weekend off against the All Iowa Attack Red team and potential 2010 #1 recruit, Harrison Barnes. Although the Magic will ultimately lose to the Attack, Woolridge showed the Kansas fans exactly why they should all be excited for the 6′2″ 185 pound 2 guard from Arizona.
Woolridge had little trouble scoring the ball against any defenders, including Barnes, who spent some time trying to slow Woolridge down. Woolridge showed off his ability to score all over the floor throughout the weekend. Woolridge hit spot up 3’s, pull up 3’s, and off the catch 3’s. You name it, Woolridge showed he could hit it. He also had great success at getting to the rim and either finishing or getting to the foul line. While not the ultra quick type of scorer like Memphis native Joe Jackson, Woolridge just has the knack for finding a way of getting his shot off, even while taking punishment from defenders. Woolridge didn’t just use his scoring ability to impress this weekend. Woolridge showed off his vision as a passer throughout the weekend by utilizing his skills as a slasher to find teammates for open shot opportunities. Read the rest of this entry »
