The Kansas Jayhawks kicked off #JuliusRandleWeek with a bang and ended their three game losing streak in a most impressive way in their 83-62 win over Kansas State Monday night inside Allen Fieldhouse. It didn’t take long for the Jayhawks to get it going as they hit 58.6% from the field in the first half, including 50% from three, to take a 47-29 lead into halftime. A lead that was simply too much for the Wildcats to overcome.

Birthday boy Ben McLemore showed off his offensive arsenal finishing with 30 points on 9-13 shooting from the field, including 6-10 from three and 6-6 from the line. For kicks McLemore snagged 7 rebounds and had 3 steals. McLemore scored 17 of his 30 points in the first half on 5-6 shooting from the field.

Center Jeff Withey put together an impressive performance as well, including a thunder ‘put you on a poster’ dunk in the second half. Withey finished the game 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Withey went 5-10 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line.

 

Guard Naadir Tharpe had himself a terrific first half that really sparked the Jayhawks to their 18 point halftime lead. His ability to get into the lane and create led to easy baskets for his teammates. Tharpe finished the half 7 points, 6 assists and 0 turnovers. He finished the game with 7 points, 8 assists and 1 turnover in 27 minutes of action.

Kansas State was led by Rodney McGruder’s 20 points, followed by Angel Rodriguez’s 17 points.

Kansas finished the game 28-58 (48.3%) from the field. 8-21 (38.1%) from three and 19-22 (86.4%) from the line.

Kansas State finished the game 20-50 (40%) from the field. 8-19 (42.1%) from three and 14-19 (73.7%) from the line.

Kansas outscored KSU 34-16 in points in the paint.

Kansas outscored KSU 19-11 off turnovers.

Kansas outscored KSU 19-2 in 2nd chance points.

KSU outscored KU 12-8 in fast break points.

KU outscored KSU 8-4 in bench points.
