Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have turned your attention to another notable KU team, the big news heading into this Saturday’s football game is the change at the quarterback position.

Redshirt freshman Michael Cummings will get the nod when Kansas hosts the Texas Longhorns for homecoming weekend.

TheShiver.com caught up with both Cummings and quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus to talk about how the young QB is handling the new role.

Cummings came off very relaxed though still catching balance with the new found media attention he has received the past two weeks. Though he said it was “kind of tough” operating as a quarterback-by-committee Cummings did say that since it was practiced that way in the week leading up to the Oklahoma game, that it didn’t affect his play.

Quarterbacks Coach Ron Powlus also gave us a critique of Cummings play last week and what they are working on to get better. And although he wasn’t exactly complimentary of Cummings play last Saturday saying it was “fine”, Powlus did say that Cummings continually gets better and that he should benefit from the extra snaps in practice this week.
