Though we’ve not seen as much improvement as we would have liked in the win-loss column in 2012, there is little debate over how much the Kansas defense as a whole has improved. Led by new defensive coordinator Dave Campo, this group of Jayhawks has yielded an average of 439 yards per game they have buckled down in the red-zone (opp. 12-18 redzone scores) and created turnovers (tied 5th most in the country).

Coach Campo met with the media this week in preparation for Saturday’s instate rivalry with the K-state Wildcats. Coach Campo talked about many subjects including taking the red practice jersey off of the QB’s this week to prepare for the mobile Collin Klien. Coach also talked about keeping Klien uncomfortable, comparing Klien to NFL QB Ben Rothlisberger, getting off the field on 3rd down, and much more.

I usually try to cut these things down a bit but with Coach Campo all ten minutes are worth your time.

As a bonus, I also include my interview with defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt who talks about how his unit will attack Klien, winning one-on-one battles being the key, and how the game affects local recruiting.
