Ben Johnson (Basehor, KS/Basehor Linwood) exploded into the football recruiting world last season as he quickly became one of the best high school football prospects in the Midwest region. Johnson’s ability to create space with his body (6’6″ 230 lbs), catch the ball in traffic and run after the catch had coaches from school like Notre Dame, Stanford, Oklahoma State and Arkansas quickly throw their hats into the Johnson recruitment. But then the new era began in nearby Lawrence and Johnson made the call to stay close to home.
Enter Charlie Weis at Kansas in late 2011.
Ben Johnson becomes the first player to commit to Kansas in the 2013 class in early February.
