2014 C Jahlil Okafor is a well known name to college basketball fans around the country that spend their days following recruiting news of the top players in the country in hopes that their favorite school is where some of those players will ultimately end up. The Chicago big man is one such player and he hasn’t even started his junior year of high school. The 6’10″ Okafor has college coaches drooling thinking about what a game changer like Okafor could do for their program. The Kansas Jayhawks, a big man producing factory during the Bill Self era, is certainly one of the schools that would love to see Okafor lace them up for them.

Don’t let Okafor’s size confuse you in any way. Yes – he is 6’10. Yes – he is 280 lbs. Yes – his legs look like two giant tree trunks. No – he isn’t slow and doesn’t move like his feet are stuck in the ground. Okafor has a quick spin move off of his defender, a nice baby hook, good mid range jumper and he is quickly learning how to use his body to create space. His feet are light and allow him to quickly either spin around or blow by his defender where he will finish with thunder or pull off a little up and under reverse. Okafor is already so good and he isn’t anywhere near his ceiling as a player – and that has coaches already thinking about what a difference he could make to their programs in a couple of years.
