The Travis Releford Show Leads Kansas

Kansas moved to 2-0 in the Big 12 Saturday afternoon after defeating the Oklahoma Sooners 72-61 inside the Lloyd Noble Center. Junior Travis Releford’s career high 28 points on 9-13 shooting led all scorers in the game. McCay joins Jayhawk Nation

Former Bishop Miege and Oklahoma WR Justin McCay wrapped up his official visit to Kansas by deciding that Jayhawk Nation is where he wants to be. McCay will enroll at Kansas now so that he can be in school for the second semester of this academic year. The former Stags star originally committed to play for Oklahoma during his senior year at Miege over Kansas, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Florida. McCay ended his high school football career regarded as one of the top prospects in the country, which he displayed as a participate in the Army All American Game in San Antonio.

McCay will reunite with his former high school coach at Miege, Tim Grunhard, who joined the Kansas coaching staff last month.

McCay plans to talk more about his his decision to join Jayhawk Nation at a later date, but he did make sure to say “Rock Chalk” when TheShiver contacted him about his decision.

Kansas v Kansas State

Conference season begins with a bang for the Kansas Jayhawks when they host instate rival Kansas State on Wednesday night. The Wildcats enter the game with the better record (11-1) but they also enter the game ranked 156th in Strength of Schedule in the country. A win versus the college basketball monster to the east would certainly cause a lot of people around the country to take notice of the Wildcats this season. Read the rest of this entry »

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas head football coach Charlie Weis announced the addition of Rob Ianello to the Jayhawk football staff here Tuesday. Ianello, who will coach the KU wide receivers and also serve as the recruiting coordinator, joins the Kansas program after serving the previous two seasons as the head coach at Akron.

Prior to his stint at Akron, Ianello was a member of the coaching staff at Notre Dame from 2005-09, coaching all five seasons under Weis. He coached the Irish in the 2008 Hawai’i Bowl, 2007 Sugar Bowl and 2006 Fiesta Bowl.

From 2005-08 at Notre Dame, he served as wide receivers coach and coordinated the recruiting efforts of the Irish. In January 2009, he was promoted to assistant head coach for offense. In that role, he led offensive staff meetings when head coach Charlie Weis was not present, and later served as the team’s interim head coach. Read the rest of this entry »
