Kansas commit Perry Ellis (Wichita Heights/Wichita, KS) made his long awaited official visit to Kansas this past weekend and it gave Ellis a little taste of what his life will be like next year when he arrives at the University of Kansas.

Ellis had a chance to go to class, hang out with the KU players and coaches, and of course check out Late Night in the Phog.

“I had a great visit.  It was relaxing with no pressure,” said Ellis.  “It was great to hang out with the players and coaches,” added Ellis.

Ellis had a chance to attend a class with current KU player Kevin Young.

“I attended Western Civilization on Friday morning with Kevin Young.  Then we all had lunch at Jefferson’s that was great food.  Really I had a lot of great food all weekend and we seemed to be eating all the time,” said Ellis.

Ellis has been to Kansas on multiple occasions, but with this visit being his official visit, even the campus tour was thrown into the agenda.

“Coach Manning showed us the campus and also areas of Lawrence so that I knew my way around when I enroll next summer.  That evening we went to Naismith Room with all the players and their families and had another great meal, and then it was time for Late night in the Phog,” said Ellis.  It was a lot of fun and the fans were great too. This was my third time at Late Night.  After that we all went to Oread, and again, we ate.  Then I went out with the players and hung out,” Ellis added.

The official visit also gave Ellis a chance to make sure his family got to see parts of the campus he had already seen during previous trips, and he even made sure to get a workout in since food seemed to be everywhere during the trip.

“Saturday was breakfast at the Oread and then I got to go with my parents to see the Jayhawk Towers. I had seen them already but my parents and my brothers hadn’t yet,” said Ellis. “We then went to AFH and watched the team practice before the players, coaches and families all went to Coach Self’s home for dinner and then the football game.  After the football game we had pizza with Coach Manning and his wife.  Sunday morning I got up early had to workout since I was eating so much over the weekend.  We had breakfast with the coaches and then headed back home to Wichita.  It was a great weekend in Lawrence I am excited to be part of the Jayhawk family,” added Ellis.
