Kansas’ Thomas Robinson Named John R. Wooden Award 2011-12 Preseason Top 50 Candidate
LOS ANGELES – Kansas junior forward Thomas Robinson has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list announced Monday by The Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Robinson, one of four Big 12 student-athletes on the list, is Kansas’ leading returning rebounder from last season when he averaged 6.4 rebounds per game. The 6-9 Washington, D.C., native also scored 7.6 points per game and had a team-best 60.1 field goal percentage and 22 blocked shots.
“This is based on potential and I am grateful to be named to the list,” Robinson said. “We have a lot of great players on our team, like Tyshawn (Taylor), that could be on the list just like me.” Read the rest of this entry »

KU Defense: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
Chants of “defense” filled Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium early Saturday afternoon as the Jayhawks defense stifled the Texas Tech highly ranked offense to the tune of 82 yards in the first quarter. But the Jayhawks defensive success was short lived as the Red Raiders wore down Kansas in their march to 4-0, leaving the Jayhawks again scratching their heads.
The Kansas defense showed what they could be capable of Saturday afternoon but the problems that have plagued the Jayhawks throughout the season again reared its ugly head. The Jayhawks defenders made several nice stops and were in position to make more but missed tackles and missed opportunities have been the story for these Jayhawks all season.
