ESPNHS announced today Kevin Love, John Wall, Tyreke Evans, Kemba Walker and Brandon Jennings will coach many of the nation’s elite high school basketball players during the 2011 Boost Mobile Elite 24. The quintet are Boost Mobile Elite 24 alumni. They will be joined by former college player of the year and national champion Jason Williams.High school basketball coaches Jason Hart of Taft High School (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Grant Rice of Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, Nev.) will lead the coaching staffs of the two teams.
Hart, who recently concluded a 10-year pro career, will team with Love, Jennings and Williams to lead the “Raymond Lewis” squad. Rice, with Evans, Walker and Wall will lead the “Marques Johnson” squad. Teams, in the tradition of the event, are named after California Playground Legends.
Boost Mobile Elite 24 participants are selected based on their performance at AAU events by high school basketball experts from ESPNHS and other top talent evaluators.
The 2011 Boost Mobile Elite 24 event will consist of the Under Armour High School Slam Dunk Contest, on Friday, August 26, 6 p.m. EDT and the game on Saturday, August 27, 7 p.m. EDT; both will be televised live on ESPNU.
