2012 PF Perry Ellis (Wichita, KS/Heights Video, Pics) once again made the short trip to Lawrence on Saturday, his second time in two weeks, to check out the Kansas Jayhawks take on the Iowa State Cyclones. The short trip to see the Jayhawks came one day after Ellis dropped 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists on West High. Ellis is now shooting an incredible 76% from the field this season. Despite the game being a blowout from beginning to end, Ellis still had a great time while in Lawrence.
“I have been to Allen Fieldhouse three times this season every time it was a great experience for me and I always enjoy coming back,” said Ellis about visiting Kansas. ”I went with my AAU coach, Steve Young. The players, coaches and fans always make me feel welcome when I come. It was a big win for the Jayhawks,” added Ellis.
One of the highlights for Ellis on Saturday was seeing former Kansas safety, Darrell Stuckey, receive an award during halftime. Ellis has had the opportunity to develop a pretty good relationship with Stuckey over the last few years.
“I also enjoyed seeing Darrell Stuckey again. His sister played for Iowa State and my sister, who still plays for Memphis, used to play AAU ball together in the summer like 5 years ago so we got to know each other pretty well,” said Ellis. “It was cool to be there when he got his award,” added Ellis
Despite Ellis taking his third trip to Kansas this season, fans shouldn’t expect him to end his recruitment anytime soon. With schools like Memphis, Kansas State, Kentucky, Wichita State and Oklahoma still being considered along with Kansas, it’s likely that Ellis will wait to make his college decision sometime during his senior year at Heights.
