After exploding for 21 points during his debut Saturday morning versus USC, freshman Josh Selby has been named the Big XII Rookie of the Week.

Selby made his collegiate debut a memorable one in the Jayhawks’ 70-68 victory over USC. The freshman guard finished with 21 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to give KU a 69-68 lead it would not relinquish. He also pulled down a key defensive rebound with 43 seconds left, just prior to his 3-pointer. The Baltimore-native finished the game 5-of-11 (.455) from the field, including 5-of-8 (.625) from beyond the arc. He was also 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line with five rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes of action.
