INDIANAPOLIS — The 2010 adidas Nations Invitational tipped off the summer evaluation period with some outstanding competition. The Compton Magic (Calif.), Dallas Mustangs, New England Playaz (Mass.) and New Heights NYC made up the final four teams in the U-17 Platinum Division, with the Mustangs defeating New Heights in the championship game. LeBryan Nash (Dallas/Lincoln), ESPNU’s No. 10-ranked player, scored 19 points while leading his team to the championship.

The heavy favorite in the U-16 Division, the Atlanta Celtics, took care of business with a 74-59 win over Indiana Elite in the final game. The Celtics, who have at least eight Division I prospects on their roster, were led by Damien Wilson (Mableton, Ga./Pebblebrook), who turned heads while scoring 14 points in a balanced attack in the championship.

Player to watch

Kaleb Tarzcewski (Claremont, N.H./St. Mark’s [R.I.])
2012, C, 7-0, 225 pounds | Team: New England Playaz

Tarzcewski continues to improve each time we see him. He is starting to develop a nasty streak in the paint and is not afraid to fight for his territory. He is already a Super 60 player but still has major upside. He is a hard worker and wants to be coached. Tarzcewski’s stock is only going to improve in a class that is full of outstanding post players.

• The Franchize All-Stars’ 6-9 combo-forward Wannah Bail (Sugar Land, Texas/Trent International) may not have had his best performance during the tournament, but the athletic wing excels in the open court and can finish with the best of them.
