Named ‘The Problem’ while in New York for the Jordan Brands Classic, Josh Selby put Selby fever over the top during the early part of annual All-Star game when he announced that he had signed with Kansas. Now that Selby is on campus, the countdown to ‘Late Night’ has officially started and fans are more than ready to see Selby take the court with his teammates.
With ‘Late Night’ not scheduled until October, many fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of Selby on the court during one of the two Alumni games that take place during both sessions Bill Self’s Basketball Camp. Unfortunately for Kansas fans, and Selby, he suffered a broken left pinkie while playing pick-up ball shortly after he arrived in Lawrence. One thing Kansas fans should know about Selby is that he loves the basketball court. It’s the place where Selby feels most comfortable, and will spend hours working on his game or playing pick-up games against anyone willing to step onto the court. With his injured pinkie, Josh is forced to sit on the side lines while his teammates take the court. One glance over at Josh and it’s easy to see that he wants nothing more than to be on the court helping his team win.
Spend a few minutes with Selby and you will quickly recognize his quick wit and good humor. He can take it and dish it out with the best of them, including cracking jokes about himself.
TheShiver caught up to Selby shortly after the KU Alumni Game, but we kept it light for those few minutes, including joking about his height which began during McDonald’s All American week. Selby stands about 6’3 1/2″ currently - but if you ask him, he’s on his way to 6’8″. It took all of 30 seconds for Selby to become a favorite for Kansas fans, and he hasn’t even taken the court yet. Once that happens – you will see the other side of Selby. That side is one that makes Selby ‘The Problem’ for opponents on the basketball court.
