The #8 ranked player in the ESPNU 100, Josh Selby, made his first visit, since his mid-October visit to Kansas, on Saturday. Selby and his mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, took a quick, one-day trip to Indiana to see Head Coach, Tom Crean, and the Indiana Hoosiers in person. TheShiver.com caught up with Witherspoon to learn about the visit to Bloomington.
“Overall it was a good visit,” Witherspoon said about the visit. “IU (Indiana University) is a school full of history and tradition,” added Witherspoon.
Although Selby and Witherspoon had limited time in Bloomington they did have the opportunity to watch the Hoosiers practice, which allowed them to see how Crean interacted with his players.
“Crean ran an intense practice,” said Witherspoon about IU’S practice. “I’ll say this too, Coach Crean is a real X’s and O’s coach. He really knows the game,” added Witherspoon.
With Indiana still in the re-building stages in Crean’s tenure, Witherspoon is very interested to see how the program develops over the course of the 2009-10′ season.
“We are certainly going to pay attention to them during the season,” said Witherspoon. “It’s a up-and-coming program, so we will be watching to see how they develop throughout the season,” added Witherspoon.
With visits to Kansas and Indiana behind them, Selby and his mother plan to visit the three schools remaining on their list. Those schools are Kentucky, Miami and Syracuse. Although dates have yet to be finalized for those trips, Witherspoon is hopesto have those squared away soon.
