IMG_0151Three-star Defensive End, Geneo Grissom, finished his high school football career on Saturday by winning another state championship as Grissom and his Hutchinson High School (KS) Salthawks defeated the Gardner Edgerton Trailblazers, 52-13. After Trailblazers’ starting quarterback, Bubba Starling, got off to a hot start in the first half, Grissom and the rest of the Hutch defense shut down Starling and the Trailblazers’ offense by holding them scoreless in the second half.

Grissom, who now measures 6’5″, saw multiple double teams throughout the game, but still managed to apply pressure to Starling.  Hutch countered by moving Grissom all over the defensive line, making it difficult for the Trailblazers to account for his where-abouts before snapping the ball.

After the game, TheShiver.com caught up with Grissom to talk about winning another state title (the school’s sixth consecutive) and about his recruitment. Having committed to the Kansas Jayhawks earlier this summer, Grissom has since received interest from college football powerhouse, LSU. Although still committed to the Jayhawks, it appears Grissom is just waiting to see what happens with Kansas coach, Mark Mangino, and the Kansas football program.
