Basketball is in Jones’ DNA

Jones-300x200ESPN.com’s  Christopher Lawlor offers up this great piece on Kansas recruit, Terrence Jones. Although reports surfaced yesterday that Jones had eliminated Kansas, TheShiver.com first reported that, according to Jones himself, that wasn’t the case.

 

Terrence Jones looks good.

He always looks good on the basketball court. He is an all-around player — posting up, flicking shots, sending laser passes in traffic and clearing boards. With one season left before college, Jones is shifting focus on his game away from the game.

This isn’t a makeover — no, Jones doesn’t need one anytime soon. Instead, the 6-foot-9 forward from Jefferson High in Portland, Ore., wants to be more aware of his teammates. Consider it a comfort zone where banter flows freely and unity is paramount.

Richardson has KU on top

untitledMillwood (OK) High School quarterback, Kevonte Richardson, made his way back to Lawrence last weekend to, once again, see the University of Kansas and the Kansas football program. Although Richardson doesn’t graduate until 2011, the Kansas staff has already made it clear that Richardson is one of their main recruiting targets in the 2011 class. Read the rest of this entry »

Barr eyeing Oklahoma game

barrTwo-star wide receiver, Martize Barr, has played exceptionally well this season for his Calvin Coolidge High School (D.C.) football team. Although his team is 3-2, Barr has impressed with his abilities despite the offensive system change this season. Coolidge now runs a more pro-style offense and Barr has taken to the new system quite well. Barr has 27 catches for 432 yards, 2 receiving touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown. In the last two games alone, Barr has totaled 17 catches.

Schools like Rutgers, Kansas, Missouri and New Mexico have all been recruiting Barr, but it’s the Jayhawks that Barr is hoping to see in person later this month for one of the biggest games on the Jayhawks’ schedule. Although Barr hasn’t had a chance to watch an entire Kansas football game this fall, he’s caught a lot of the highlights. Read the rest of this entry »
