Two-star wide receiver, Martize Barr, has played exceptionally well this season for his Calvin Coolidge High School (D.C.) football team. Although his team is 3-2, Barr has impressed with his abilities despite the offensive system change this season. Coolidge now runs a more pro-style offense and Barr has taken to the new system quite well. Barr has 27 catches for 432 yards, 2 receiving touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown. In the last two games alone, Barr has totaled 17 catches.
Schools like Rutgers, Kansas, Missouri and New Mexico have all been recruiting Barr, but it’s the Jayhawks that Barr is hoping to see in person later this month for one of the biggest games on the Jayhawks’ schedule. Although Barr hasn’t had a chance to watch an entire Kansas football game this fall, he’s caught a lot of the highlights.
“I’ve seen all the highlights from all of the games,” Barr said. “They (KU) look good, and I would love to play in that offense,” added Barr.
On October 17th, the Jayhawks will welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Lawrence, a game that could help put the Jayhawks in the drivers seat towards the Big 12 Championship game. Barr is hoping to make his way to Lawrence to see the Jayhawks up close and personal.
“I want to visit Kansas when they play OU,” Barr said.
As for when Barr will end his recruitment, he’s still waiting to see who else might offer during his impressive senior season.
“I don’t know when I’m committing,” Barr said. “I’m trying to get a couple more offers,” added Barr.
