Lamb1This year, like most, Kansas basketball fans are curious to know which top recruits will be making their way to Lawrence for the annual ‘Late Night in the Phog’ celebration inside Allen Fieldhouse. Names like Xavier Henry, Sherron Collins, Darrell Arthur, Jeff Withey and many more have seen the wild celebration that marks the beginning of basketball season. Most leave Lawrence with great enthusiasm about the the program, the city and especially the Kansas basketball fans. With the 2010 celebration right around the corner, it appears that the Jayhawks will be hosting the #33 ranked player in the country, Doron Lamb. TheShiver.com spoke to Doron’s father, Calvin Lamb, about the the visit to Kansas and where Lamb will be headed before he makes it to Lawrence.

“Well, our visits will be early in October,” Calvin Lamb said. “To Oklahoma on October 2nd, and then after that, to Kansas for their big event on the 16th. We still need to finalize it, but we’re going to set that up, but need to confirm with Coach Self,” added Lamb.

The trips to Oklahoma and Kansas are the only college visits that Lamb has immediate plans for, but that doesn’t mean he won’t make more visits.

“After that, we’ll play it by ear,” said Lamb of what visits may be set after the Kansas and Oklahoma visits. “I would like to see him see some other schools because you only get to do this once in your life,” added Lamb.

The Kansas staff is certainly doing what they can to remain visible to Doron during the recruitment process. After conducting an in-home visit at Lamb’s high school, Oak Hill Academy, on September 10th and meeting with Lamb’s parents on September 14th it appears that the Kansas staff will be once again checking in on the 6’4″, 180 pound swing guard from Brooklyn, New York.

“I believe Coach Self will be back this week,” said Calvin Lamb about the Kansas staff watching Doron at Oak Hill.

Lamb and his family are fairly familiar with one of the more well-known Jayhawks in recent history. As it turns out, fellow New Yorker, Russell Robinson, took the time to tell Lamb that a visit to Kansas is one that he should certainly make.

“Got to know him. He’s a fellow Gaucho,” Lamb said of Robinson, who also played for the New York Gauchos during the summer circuit. “Russell told Doron that he should check it out, to check Kansas out,” added Lamb.

Barring a last minute change to their plans when talking to the Kansas staff, it appears Lamb will, indeed, have an opportunity to check out Kansas.
