The #17 ranked player in the ESPNU Super 60, Wayne Blackshear, was thought, by some, to be ending his recruitment sooner than later, but after chatting with his step-father, Kevin Thomas, TheShiver.com learned that Blackshear is actually leaning towards waiting until his upcoming high school basketball season.
“It’s just taking it’s course,” Thomas said of Blackshear’s recruitment. “He’s just trying to focus on school right now. He’s just waiting for his basketball season, and then he may commit somewhere. He is leaning towards doing it this year depending on how it goes,” added Thomas.
If Blackshear were to decide to head to Louisville, that could potentially team him up with another top ranked player in the ESPN Super 60 and Blackshear’s good friend, Marquis Teague, which has been a long time rumor associated with both of them.
“That’s basically a rumor,” Thomas said. “They see each other so much, and they get excited. They’re buddies, and they talk though. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but at the end of the day, we’ll see how it goes,” added Thomas.
Blackshear currently has a long and impressive list of schools recruiting him. In addition to Louisville, Blackshear has Kansas, Illinois, Texas, Kentucky, Memphis, Marquette, Michigan State, USC and others that make up his list.
According to Thomas, Blackshear has not set up any other unofficial visits at this time.
