The #4 SF and #16 overall player in the 2010 class is a man of few words when it comes to his recruitment. Where Roscoe Smith wants to be heard is on the court, and that’s exactly what happened on Friday night at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game in New York City. In the game, the Baltimore native poured in 22 points, just one point behind his now teammate and fellow Kansas recruit, Doron Lamb.

“It was good,” Smith said of the Elite 24. “It was a good experience,” added Smith.

In September, Smith will be heading off to Oak Hill Academy located in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Oak Hill has a reputation for being one of the most prestigious high school basketball program in the country. It’s that, combined with their academic reputation, that has made Oak Hill an attractive destination for many high school basketball players during Head Coach Steve Smith’s 25 years at the school.

As far as his recruitment is concerned, according to Smith, everything seems to be holding steady for the 6’8″ 190 pound forward.

“It’s the same schools right now,” said Smith.

The schools that Smith refers to are Kansas, Duke, Maryland, Kentucky, UConn, Florida, Florida State, Texas, UNC, Georgetown and Louisville.

As of today, Smith has yet to trim his list or set up any in home or official visits for the fall.

“I’m still trying to figure out who I want to visit,” Smith said.

When it comes to trimming his list or naming a leader, that’s not something that Smith is ready to do for awhile.

“I like a lot of schools, Smith said. “But I need to visit before I can do anything,” added Smith.

As for the schools that Smith wants to visit, Smith is keeping it close to the vest with that info too.

“I’m not going to say who I want to visit just yet,”said Smith of visits.

With official and in home visits waiting to be set up still, it appears that Smith may not make a decision on which school he will be attending in 2010 won’t be made for some time. According to Smith, he is looking to do it while in season.

“Middle of my season at Oak Hill,” Smith said of when he hopes to announce his decision.

As for Kansas, Smith has taken notice of their success.

“They’re a great program,” Smith said.

Smith added that he has watched Kansas often, but can’t say yet if his style of play fits into the Kansas system.

As far as his move to Oak Hill this season, it’s something that Smith is ready for. Not to prove anything, but to just prepare himself for the next level.

“My game speaks for itself. I’m just out there trying to get ready for college,” said Smith. I just focusing on my dreams,” added Smith.
