Kansas Head Coach Bill Self and staff have been busy this week finalizing dates for in home visits during the month of September with some of the top ranked recruits in the ESPNU Top 100 rankings. It appears another name can be added to the list of players that will be hosting Coach Self and staff next month.
Adreian Payne is the #7 ranked power forward and the #23 ranked player over all in the ESPNU 100. At 6′9″ and 215 pounds, Payne has impressed coaches around the country with his long frame (84 inch wingspan) and his very high ceiling. According to some, Payne might have the highest ceiling in the 2010 class. With that being the case, it’s no surprise that Kansas is heavily recruiting the Dayton, Ohio product.
According to Payne’s high school coach Art Winston, the Kansas staff will conduct an in home visit with Payne and his family in mid September.
“In home visit with Kansas on September 15th,” said Coach Winston via text.
The Jayhawks are just one of many high profile programs that are currently recruiting Payne. Currently Payne list Kansas, West Virginia, Michigan State, Arizona, and Kentucky where he visited on May 16th.
Despite some rumors that have been floating around that Payne had eliminated some of the schools on his list, Coach Winston was quick to dismiss them.
“All of his list of five schools are even at this point,” Coach Winston said.
As for thoughts of the Jayhawks, it appears that coach Self sticks out to Payne right now.
“Kansas and Coach Self,” said Coach Winston of Payne’s thoughts of the Kansas. “He likes their style of play, and thinks it’s a very good school,” added Coach Winston.
As for when Payne will schedule his official visits, it appears that those dates won’t be determined until after schools complete their in home visits with Payne.
“No, he will wait until after all his in home visits are complete before he starts setting up officials,” Coach Winston said.
