emmanuel-davisEmmanuel Davis is looking to show the world that he has what it takes to be a success at the next level.  Of course, any top high school receiver is going to work hard to go to a big time school and earn playing time.  Emmanuel Davis just happens to have the size and athletic ability that most receivers lack.

Davis has exceptional size and speed for a wide receiver prospect, being 6′5″ and weighing in at 185 pounds.  He has also been consistently clocking in under 4.5 in the 40, which means that many top flight teams have been calling the senior to be.  Emmanuel claims offers from schools such as Kansas, Oklahoma, Tulsa, and Baylor.  The Bowie High School senior has some big plans for his final year in the Dallas/Ft. Worth football scene.

“I think if I apply myself I can score two touchdowns a game.” Davis told TheShiver.

The key to Davis being able to score two touchdowns a game is already well known to him.  One of his biggest knocks up to this point has been his propensity to take plays off and lose focus, hence explaining his main focus in the off season.

“I need to work on staying focused in school and giving 100% effort every play.  If I do that, I know that everyone will take notice.” Davis explained.   ”I have been working out trying to gain weight and running track.  I have also been playing some seven on seven ball and just working on my game.”

Emmanuel believes that all of the hard work will not only pay off with a scholarship to play in the Big XII, but it should pay off with a state championship.

“We are going to have a great team this year.”  Davis elaborated further with, ” I think we have a very good chance to win state this year.”

The Bowie High coaches are confident as well, which explains why they are working on ways to take advantage of Davis’ physical tools to help their team on both sides of the ball.

”I see myself playing outside receiver and using my height to my advantage.  I am listed as 6′4 by some people, but I am 6′5″.  My coaches have also been working me out at corner, so I could end up playing that as well.”  Davis explained about how he see’s himself being used this year.

The staff at Kansas has had a fairly astute eye for wide receiver talent, which explains why they are looking at Davis.  Which begs the question, where does Kansas stand in his recruitment?

“I don’t have any favorites right now, but Kansas is definitely up there.  I really like their style of play.”  Davis also discussed his plans for this fall.  “I definitely plan on visiting Kansas.  I have not been to campus as of yet, but I have been talking to the offensive coordinator and their recruiting coordinator. I plan on coming up for a game this fall.”

If Emmanuel Davis is able to continue improving his game and shoring up his perceived weaknesses, he will be a steal of a player for whatever school is lucky enough to get him.  Assuming he is able to assert himself every game and improve his route running and hands, Davis has the potential to be a solid contributor at the next level.
