The recruitment of Oak Hill Academy (VA) swing guard Doron Lamb could be a lengthy one. The #11 SG in the country has some of the best college basketball programs in the country recruiting him, including the Kansas Jayhawks. It appears that the hard work the Kansas coaching staff has put in to recruiting Lamb is paying off.
“Yeah, I’m going to visit next month,” Lamb said of visiting Lawrence. “I don’t have a date yet, but it will be next month. It will be an unofficial visit,” added Lamb.
As for if the Jayhawks will be able to bring Lamb in one on an official visit is still up in the air.
“I’ll figure that out in the fall,” said Lamb of his official visits.
Lamb has already made a trip to Lexington, Kentucky, and it appears the Jayhawks won’t be the only Big 12 program Lamb visits in August.
“I’m going to visit OU too,” said Lamb.
Lamb’s currently list of schools of interest is pretty impressive. Along with Kansas, Lamb said his list consist of Kentucky, Oklahoma, UConn, Rutgers, Arizona, Marquette, and Pitt.
In regards to Kansas, Lamb certainly thinks fondly of the school and the Kansas coaching staff.
“It’s a good school,” Lamb said of Kansas. “They’re cool. They seem real cool,” added Lamb.
In May, TheShiver spoke with Lamb’s high school coach Steve Smith. In the interview, Smith made mention of the fact that Lamb has an unstoppable mid-range game (Read Here). According to Lamb, that is a result of natural ability and hard work.
“It’s natural ability, but I work out all the time and shoot a lot of shots everyday,” said Lamb of his mid-range game.
Lamb will head back to Oak Hill in September in hopes to win a National Championship. Something his team fell just short of last season. Lamb also made note of how well Oak Hill prepares kids for college life.
“Trying to get that ring,” Lamb said of his upcoming senior season. “Schoolwork and basketball. They really help prepare you for college,” added Lamb about Oak Hill.
When it comes to his game, Lamb is short and simple about describing what he’s best at.
“My scoring and defense,” said Lamb of his game.
Lamb also isn’t worried about what position he will play in college. At 6′5″ 190 pounds, Lamb is athletic and gifted enough to play multiple spot on the court. Something he doesn’t see being an issue at all.
“I can play combo (guard) or whatever. It really doesn’t matter to me,” said Lamb.
