releford-vs-smithThe Kansas City Prep National Invitational wasn’t easy for any of the terrific AAU organizations that participated in the multiple divisions of the tournament. The tournament is the last AAU tournament of the summer circuit, and most AAU programs have been through a tough grueling season leading up to the KC Prep tournament. Both players and coaches rack up miles and games throughout the summer, so it’s no surprise that players can look and play tired during the last tournament of the season. It’s the ability to fight through exhaustion that separates teams and players in the last tournament of the summer. One team that did just that is Kansas City’s own, Kansas City Pump ‘N’ Run, who overcame much more than being tired to pull off the win against MBA Elite (Mississippi), and leave Okun Fieldhouse in Shawnee as the tournament champions in the 17 and under Platinum division. justin-mccay51TheShiver.com had the opportunity to catch up with Bishop Miege (KS) football star Justin McCay as he prepared to hit the hardwood with his KC Pump N Run team in Shawnee, Kansas. McCay talked about his trip to Florida last week, his recruitment, and his upcoming season. Oh, and he made sure that revenge was coming on the basketball court for Highland Park High School in Topeka.

Releford continued his terrific play at the KC Prep National Invitational in Shawnee, Kansas Tuesday night, despite his KC Pump N Run team losing in their first game of pool play. Releford spoke with TheShiver.com shortly before his game about his summer and where his recruitment stands right now.

Because that’s all that needs to be said when talking  about the 6’3″ SG from St. Louis after his performance against the Kansas City Keys at the KC Prep National Invitational in Shawnee, Kansas.
