Kansas recruit Luke Cothron made his way to Lawrence on Friday for the Kansas Elite Camp with about 50 other talented high school basketball players. The camp hosted players from all over the country, over two days, where players get a chance to be coached by the Kansas coaches and face off against other talented players, including members of the current Kansas roster.
Cothron, a 6’8″ 200 pound athletic power forward from Flora MacDonald Academy (NC), said he had a few chances to see a little bit of the Kansas campus, despite the Fieldhouse not being open due to construction. However, Cothron along with other campers did get to see what the future holds for Kansas players and coaches.
“I checked it out a little bit,” Cothron said of KU. “They showed us a cool video of what they’re building and that looked like it’s going to be real nice,” Cothron added.
As far as hitting the courts, Cothron seems to have had a good experience at the camp.
“The camp went good,” said Cothron. “Coaches were pretty cool,” added Cothron.
One of those coaches that Cothron spent a little time with is former Naismith and Wooden Award winner at Kansas, and former NBA overall #1 pick, Danny Manning.
“I worked with him (Manning) a lot,” said Cothron. “It was a learning experience,” added Cothron about getting coached by Manning.
Cothron also had the opportunity to face up against the nations best center and other current Kansas players.
“I played against Cole (Aldrich), the twins (Marcus and Markieff Morris), and Thomas Robinson (Kansas freshman),” said Cothron.”It was good, it was a good camp,” Cothron added.
TheShiver.com last spoke to Cothron at the end of May, where he named a number of schools that are on his current list. Some of the programs he mentioned were North Carolina, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Alabama, Memphis, Kentucky, and Tennessee. (Read Article Here)
