2012 Prospect J.P. (Jean-Pierre) Tokoto has quickly made a name for himself among the prep ranks in Wisconsin, he is now becoming well-known across the country. TheShiver.com caught a few minutes with his coach Ritchie Davis to learn a bit more about the 6’5″, 190 pound swing guard/forward.
Tokoto isn’t a secret to programs around the country as he is being noticed by a long list of schools that include Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Duke, Georgetown, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Miami (FL), Minnesota, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, UCLA and West Virginia.
Tokoto has offers from Marquette and Wisconsin, and now the Kansas Jayhawks have extended a scholarship offer to Tokoto.
“J.P. did in fact receive a scholarship offer at the conclusion of camp on Saturday,” Davis said. He and his family are extrememly excited and are looking forward to building a relationship with coach Self and his staff,” added Davis.
“J.P. will be attending the Midnight Madness festivities in October as well as a KU game sometime early next season with his mother and father,” Davis said.
According to Davis, the camp was a great experience for Tokoto as well.
“J.P. really thought the camp went well and the entire KU staff was great,” said Davis. He really enjoyed getting to spend time with Cole Aldrich (a former player for Davis), many of the current KU players and the other talented players that were in attendance,” added Davis.
At only 15 years old, Tokoto is already considered as one of the top college prospects in the state of Wisconsin, regardless of class. Tokoto will continue to show off those skills throughout the summer at events like the Reebok Breakout Underclass All-American Camp in Dallas later this month and the Wisconsin Elite Instruction camp in mid-July. He could be adding other elite camps to his busy schedule that includes playing with his AAU team, the Wisconsin Playground Warriors.
