Mark Sanchez and Rod Tidwell talk shop, the Shaq in LA rumors building steam, and the Jayhawks should fear February 23rd, today on You Heard It Here Last.
Mark Sanchez defuses Carroll press conference debacle. (OC Register article)
Sanchez says his decision to become NFL draft eligible was a “deeply personal” one. He also says he supports Carroll as a coach, and feels the media made a bigger deal out of something that wasn’t really a big deal. In discussing the issue with Michael Lev, staff writer for the OC Register, Sanchez had this to say when Lev asked if he expected the harsh reaction to the press conference.
Sanchez: I don’t think anybody expected it. I don’t know if Coach expected that. I definitely didn’t. But it was one of those situations where the media kind of took things and made a real negative spin on it. While I absolutely respect Coach’s opinion, I have to go with my own gut and my own feeling. It’s a deeply personal decision. I think he understood that.
In other words, Sanchez went with long time homeboy, Rod Tidwell’s advice rather than Carroll’s.
Can’t say that I blame him…
Atlanta Falcons seeking trade rights for Michael Vick (ESPN Article)
The Atlanta Falcons are seeking trade rights for Michael Vick, stirring a flurry of controversy, ranging from the financial effects of such a deal, as well as the ethical remifications. All-in-all, its predictable that Vick will end up playing somewhere. But where?
ESPN’s NFL Analyst Marcellus Wiley says Vick would be wanted in the locker room, that he is electrifying electrocuting and a team like Minnesota could use him. If Minnesota opens up summer camp with Vick on the roster, its safe to say that the saying, the dog days of summer, will be given a new, more literal meaning.
Blake Griffin pretty much etched his name a future part of the rafters at Lloyd Noble Center by taking Texas for 40 points and 23 boards. (OU Insider article here) Folks, that’s big. Griffin continues to solidify himself as the 2009 NBA draft golden child. The man has skills, serious skills, and I don’t see anyone getting in his way. Oh yeah, Jayhawk fans get to see him first hand in Norman on February 23rd.
Phil Jackson hinted that he wouldn’t mind Shaq coming back for a “final dance” with the Lakers. (SI Article here) Of course, this rehashes the age old question in LaLa land: Can anyone out there get bumped on the waiting list for Jack Nicholson’s seats? I say no. Wait, you didn’t think I was going to bring up Kobe, did you?
