After getting off to another great start in conference play Tuesday against Kansas State, the Jayhawks now take their 12-4 record on the road to Colorado.  The Jayhawks are looking to get their first win on the road this season.

The Buffaloes, 8-7 on the season, are heading into Saturday’s game having lost three of their last four games, but they are 7-1 at home.  The Buffaloes are coming off of their first conference loss of the season at Missouri, 107-62.  The Buffaloes were unable to overcome an early 19-0 run by the Tigers, as the Buffaloes saw themselves shoot a season low 24% in the first half.

The Buffaloes are a low scoring team, averaging just over 67 points per game, while allowing their opponents just over 66 points per game.  Colorado has struggled to get to the free throw line throughout the season, only averaging 14 free throws per game.

Sophomore guard Cory Higgins leads the Buffaloes in scoring with 17.5 points per game to go along with 6 rebounds per game.  The Buffs leading three point shooter, Dwight Thorne II, is second on the team in scoring at 12 points per game. Freshman guard Nate Tomlinson initiates the Buffalo offense and is leading the team in assists to go along with his 8 points per game.

The Jayhawks will look to take advantage of the low scoring Buffs with their superior offensive weapons.  The Jayhawks average 80 points per game, while only allowing 66 points per game.  Junior guard Sherron Collins has five 20 plus point games this season and teammate Cole Aldrich has four on the season as well.

On defense, the Jayhawks rank third in the Big XII in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 38.5% shooting.  The Jayhawks have held 126 of their last 129 opponents to under 50% shooting, including 55 straight opponents.

When the Jayhawks tip off against Colorado Saturday at 2:30 c.s.t., they look to have a clear advantage over the Buffs both offensively and defensively.  Using Aldrich early should allow the Jayhawks to control both the boards and the free throw line.  That should open up guards Sherron Collins and Tyshawn Taylor to get into the lane and create shots and assist opportunities for teammates.  If the Jayhawks control the game early, it could be a long day for Colorado, and as a consequence, the first road win for Kansas.
