The new polls are coming out today and one poll, that AP, has jumped OU ahead of Texas after the Sooners ran all over the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 65-21, Saturday night. The reasoning for this is simple, voters tend to reward teams that win later in the season despite a loss, or losses, earlier in the season.
OU lost to Texas in Dallas earlier this season, 45-35, but since then OU has gone unbeaten while Texas lost to the same Red Raiders in Lubbock on a last second touchdown reception by super sophomore, Michael Crabtree.
OU will travel to Stillwater to face a very dangerous Oklahoma State team, in a heated rivalry game. The Cowboys would love to end the Sooners hopes of playing for another BCS Championship.
Florida also bumped up in the AP poll and they will face in state rival, Florida State in week 14. The Seminoles have steadily improved throughout the season, but it would still be a major surprise to see the Seminoles defeat the Tim Tebow led Gators.
As for the Longhorns, they will face Texas A&M this week in a game that in years past had some sort of appeal. This year, that’s simply not the case. Sooners vs Cowboys and Gators vs Seminoles will be much sexier to talk about throughout the week, which could end up hurting the Longhorns in the polls going into conference championship week.
