The Kansas basketball program will once again open their season in front of a packed Allen Fielhouse on Friday evening for ‘Late Night in the Phog.’ Like every year before, the Jayhawks will be welcoming in some of the best high school basketball players in the country, hoping to convince them that Lawrence is the place for them. Unlike every other year, the Jayhawks will be unveiling the new 2008 National Championship banner in the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse. Also unlike any other year, the recruit guest list is unlike any before for ‘Late Night.’ The talent assembled for the celebration almost looks like a roster for the McDonald’s All American game. Kansas has already secured a commitment from D.C. native, Thomas Robinson, and now the Jayhawks are hoping to land at least two more players to their 2009 commit list.  After the commitment of Robinson, Kansas decided to back off big man Daniel Orton, who now won’t be attending ‘Late Night’ and ended up pulling the trigger for Kentucky yesterday afternoon. The move by Kansas certainly shows that they will put the full court press on the list of guards and wings that will be attending the basketball celebration this weekend as well as their continued pursuit of PG John Wall, who visited the Jayhawks on 9-20-08.

Lance Stephenson 2009

Michael Snaer 2009
